Manatee coach off to Hall of Fame
They are honoring Mike Kelly this weekend, just as the Florida chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame is honoring all of its 2011 inductees tonight in Lake Buena Vista. It’s a well-deserved honor, even if Kelly himself probably wouldn’t have seen it that way. “He would want to know what all the fuss was about,” said Mike’s son, John. “It wasn’t his purpose.”

Youth world series in town
It’s not every day that youth baseball players get a chance to shine on a big-league venue.
Well, that’ll change for six days when the Nations Baseball World Series gets under way at Pirate City on Sunday.
The tournament features two age divisions, 16-and-under and 18-and-under, played exclusively at Pirate City, which is home to the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Gulf Coast League rookie team.
It’s also where big-leaguers like Alex Rodriguez have conducted extended spring training sessions in the past.

The Eternal Summer Surf Camp has been teaching children how to surf on Anna Maria Island for the last 3 years.
Manatee to take Centre Court at Wimbledon
Wimbledon -Fellow Manatee County resident Sabine Lisicki, a wild-card entry who reached her first Grand Slam semifinal by beating 2007 finalist Marion Bartoli 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-1 earlier today.
Both players train at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy at IMG in Bradenton. Sharapova defeated Lisicki 6-2, 6-0 on March 26 on a hard court in the third round of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami in their only meeting.
